Castilla y León (Spain) has a wide variety of quality food products, in particular our prestigious wines, traditional cheeses, quality fresh meat, original cured meats, fresh fruit and vegetables, excellent legumes, exquisite gourmet produce and countless traditional recipes. There can be no doubt that Castilla y León is one of Europe’s largest producers of quality food.
Wine is taking on an indisputable role in life today, a significant position in our social life. An entire culture has built up around it, reflected in our customs, literature and art. The wine culture is as rich and varied as the wide landscape of Castilla y León.
Some of the most important wines in the world are produced in this region. The advances that have had to be made over time have not presented a barrier for continuously improving results, to the extent that without Castilla y León, the Spanish wine culture would not have been possible.
Castilla y León has a wine-growing area of around 75,000 hectares over 13 quality wine denominations: Rueda, Ribera del Duero, Toro, Bierzo, Cigales, Valles de Benavente, Arlanza, Arribes, Tierra de León, Tierra del Vino de Zamora, Valtiendas, Sierra de Salamanca and Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla y León.
